About this Journal BJA: British Journal of Anaesthesia Founded in 1923, one year after the first anaesthetic journal was published by the International Anaesthesia Research Society, the British Journal of Anaesthesia remains the oldest and largest independent journal of anaesthesia. It became the journal of The College of Anaesthetists in 1990. The College was granted a Royal Charter in 1992. Although there are educational links between the BJA and the College, the journal retains editorial independence.

InnovAiT


About this Journal InnovAiT is the journal for Associates in Training (AiTs) of the Royal College of General Practitioners, that promotes excellence in primary care and quality education. Rotating through the whole RCGP curriculum on a three-year cycle, InnovAiT supports and assists the learning and development of AiTs as they progress through training and complete the nMRCGP assessments. Each issue covers two clinical themes and one non-clinical area, alongside a news section highlighting important new research, guidelines, and initiatives affecting GPs. In addition to this and editorials, the Journal has three regular columns: 'From the Trainer', which provides guidance to supplement that provided by the AiT's own GP trainer, and 'Crammer's Corner', a column with practical nMRCGP preparation tips from a recently qualified GP and 'News and Views' which provides up-to-date news on the latest developments affecting AiTs. The Journal also features 'applied knowledge test' questions and welcomes contributions from AiTs based on their experiences in training and on subjects relevant to other AiTs.
Published monthly, print and online access to InnovAiT is an all-inclusive benefit of AiT membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

About AKTs in this Journal
InnovAiT publishes Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) questions with each issue of the journal. Each set of questions, or quiz, is based on the themes covered in that issue and will expire within 24 months of its online publication, to ensure that the questions are based on up-to-date evidence and reflect current best practice.

Accreditation Statement
To successfully complete a quiz, 80% of questions must be answered correctly. The RCGP is currently reviewing its accreditation policy and will be investigating the possibility of accrediting InnovAiT materials for CME/CPD in the future.

Credit Designation Statement
There are no credits associated with the InnovAiT AKTs, but GP Specialty Registrars are encouraged to upload the course certificate to their e-portfolio.

Intended Audience
The questions are aimed for GP Specialty Registrars preparing for the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) component of the nMRCGP. The questions are written by an experienced general practitioner in consultation with InnovAiT's editorial team, and are subject to peer-review before publication.

Objectives
The questions are designed to test the takers' ability to apply their knowledge of the topics covered in the journal to the challenging scenarios encountered in primary care.
